Producer appointed senior VP of production
Radical Pictures has plucked producer Courtney Pledger to become senior vice president of production.
Company prexy Barry Levine made the appointment.
Pledger had a first-look producing deal with Universal-based family films division Illumination Entertainment, and she was a partner in the London-based Jigsaw Films. She is an exec producer on the Paul Weitz-directed “Cirque du Freak,” which U will distribute in 2010, and a producer of “Flanimals” and “The Night Tourist.”
Among her other projects are a film adaptation of John Masefield’s “The Box of Delights,” which has Mike Newell attached to direct for Brilliant Films, and an untitled Tony Leondis-directed feature for DreamWorks Animation.
Radical Pictures adapts Radical-published graphic novels and comics; Pledger will work on properties in the works including “Caliber,” a co-production with Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil shingle; “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” a Spyglass/Universal co-production that has Peter Berg producing and possibly directing; and “Freedom Formula,” a New Regency action film that has Bryan Singer aboard as producer and possible director.

Radical also is developing projects with a discretionary fund secured from Singapore-based Lacho Calad last fall that led to screen deals for Radical titles like “Aladdin,” which Siavash Farahani is scripting, and “Hotwire,” which Jamie Mathieson is adapting.
“Courtney has great taste in material and is well respected, and she will make a great contribution to our business,” Levine said.
